I never used to be a fan of Hubert von Goisern. Yesterday I have overcome this ignorance and paid a visit to his concert…. with now regretting not to have learned about him earlier!
Here’s just a little slice of what this man is capable of – there’s lot’s more where this comes from, more flavours, genres and unusual instruments.
Just beautiful!

Hubert von Goisern — The Alpine Hybrid
Hubert von Goisern (born Hubert Achleitner in 1952, Bad Goisern, Austria) is a musician, composer, and cultural traveler whose work stands at the crossroads of tradition and restless curiosity.
He cut his teeth in the “Neue Volksmusik” / “Alpenrock” realm — blending Alpine folk elements with rock, jazz, world-music — but he never stayed boxed in. His journey includes wide travels to Africa, Tibet, and beyond, and he’s always mined those experiences back into his sound. Music for him is a bridge between place and pulse.
His discography is long, varied — from early work with the Alpinkatzen to solo albums like Fön, Gombe, Inexil, EntwederUndOder, and Zeiten & Zeichen. Live performance is central: his concerts often feel like communal explorations, where you sense the geography as much as the notes.
He’s also a voice in social space: his lyrics can critique, reflect, question — not as spectacle, but as part of being rooted yet restless. His artistic identity is that of a wanderer with a home.
