Flight of the Conchords is the New Zealand musical comedy duo that has been formed in Wellington in 1998. The band consists of multi-instrumentalists Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement.
I have been a fan at first sight, which was in fact rather listening to their song Business Time – that has become, over time, the default-song in every tittybar in the southern hemisphere.
In all seriousness, these guys are very special and awesome musicians. Their art is incomparable and second to none. And very funny! Listeners are automatically drawn to actually listen to the stories they are telling.

I strongly recommend to give them a try. Below you’ll find some examples that I especially like.
Cheers!

Flight of the Conchords — The Masters of Earnest Absurdity
Flight of the Conchords never tried to be cool. They just were — by accident.
The New Zealand duo, Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, built an empire out of awkwardness, deadpan charm, and frighteningly good songwriting. What started as a fringe musical comedy act in Wellington turned into an international phenomenon, complete with an HBO series that defined a generation’s sense of ironic sincerity.
Their songs walk a tightrope between parody and poetry — Business Time, Hurt Feelings, and The Most Beautiful Girl (in the Room) manage to roast pop culture while still being genuinely catchy. Beneath the laughs sits serious craftsmanship: clever chord changes, sharp timing, and harmonies that hit harder than they have any right to.
Offstage, both artists have grown in their own directions — Bret writing Oscar-winning songs for film, Jemaine directing and acting — yet their chemistry remains untouched: two straight-faced dreamers dissecting modern life through ukuleles and sideways grins.
Flight of the Conchords remind us that humor can be smart, music can be funny, and both can be heartbreakingly sincere.
